Shèk-Pvâr Characters

This section gives a few details specific to Shèk-Pvâr characters.

  • don't forget to choose your primary convocation. This is done in the development window. If you forgot, open that window (⌘-D), load your character, and below the occupation (if the occupation is a Shèk-Pvâr) you'll see a menu to choose a convocation. Normally one has been selected by default, but you can change it there.
  • adding spells is done like equipement and is described in Edit Equipment
  • new Shèk-Pvâr characters receive a grimoire for free (see page 205 sidebar). To add this to your character select the Grimoire (Mâvar) from the Written Works category, it's a 128 page grimoire that is free. Mâvar is the name of a Shèk-Pvâr apprentice.
  • new Shèk-Pvâr also begin play with an elemental object. These are described on page 201 sidebar, and example are given at the start of each convocation. In the esoterica section of the equipment, one example for each of the convocation has been provided, but you can enter any object that you prefer. An example of this is given here (check 'example of adding and deleting an item').

Special sections

When a character has spells, a special section will be added in the Esoterica section of the first page, just below the esoterica skills.

The convocation MLs of a Fývrian Shèk-Pvâr.

This lists all the convocations. On the left of the convocation is a letter. P is for Primary, S Secondary, etc. At the end of that line are the convocation ML, taking into account the sunsign modifiers. Just before the ML are the modifiers applied depending on the Complexity Level of the spell. In the example above, casting a CL II spell in the Fývria convocation has a modifier of -4 = -2 x 2, while casting a Sàvôrya spell of the same CL has a modifier of -10 = -2 x (2+3).

On the second page are shown the character's spells.

A list of spells.

Each spell has its name, followed by its convocation and CL, the ML of the spell, and its EML. If the spell's ML has reached a Bonus Effect, this is indicated by a circle with the value of the bonus effect in place of the ML, just like they are shown in the spell descriptions. For example the spell Diagnosis in the list above has a circled 8 and the description (page 215) shows these bonus effects.

The bonus effects of the Diagnosis spell.

At the end of the line is the effective ML (EML), modified by Fatigue.

Focus

If the character has a Focus (see page 252), you can click on the Focus button and specify its parameters.

A focus for Balthazar.

See the Focus spell, page 252, for the details of the parameters for this dialog. This will modify the affected spell EMLs.

Talent Bonus

When the character has the required talent for a Talent Bonus (see page 212), it will modify the spell's ML. When such a bonus has been applied, an indicator () appears after the name of the spell. For this to work, the talent specialty must have the same name as the Talent Bonus is listed in the spell description. For example the talent “Elemental Fire Bolt” for the spell Doom Flame, not “Elemental Bolt (Fire)” or something else.

Talents' name can be modified in the Development window (⌘-D).
