Settings

You access the settings with ⌘-,, or selecting 'Settings' from the File menu.
In the settings view you can adjust these parameters for the app.
Pantheon

You can select one of the many pantheons of Venârivè. The deities as well as their divine aspect (see page 310), orthodox morality (see page 322) and sphere of influence will be displayed below. This will also affect the ceremonies and festivals that are shown in the calendar.
The pantheon in used for a given region can be found using the Regions & Languages tool.
Weather & Daylight

Weather generation is done exactly as described on page 144 of the HMK rulebook, with two d10 and six d6 for each day, and then modifiers are applied depending on time of day or elevation, and interpreted according to season and climate zone, which you can select from the menu. This doesn't change the weather rolled (the two d10 stay the same), it just changes their interpretation.
The daylight depends on the season and latitude (as described on page 142). You can change the latitude with the menu in this section.
You can check the Extended Twilight button to add one hour of twilight in the morning and in the evening. For example when the location is mountainous. This setting is used in the "On the Silver Mode" (see below) but can also be used on its own.
See more about the effects of these settings in the trekking panel documentation.
Other Settings
Below are a few settings that you may select.
-
Highlight Editable Text Fields: This is 'on' by default. It puts a background colour behind all editable text fields on the character sheet and in the trekking panel. Once you're more familiar with the application, you might want to turn this off for a nicer interface.
-
Adjust cost of cloth and padded: this is the default setting for the wealth score for new characters (it doesn't affect already created characters). If this is parameter is checked, new characters will have it 'on' by default as well. Check the Equipment Value section of the character sheet documentation for more on this.
-
Move Calculation Option: this setting is on by default. If it is
on, HMK Toolkit will adjust base move according to the table on page 56 for the height and frame traits of the character, in addition to the STR and AGL modifiers. If it'soffit will only use the STR and AGL modifiers. -
Bulk affects Personal Fatigue: By default (RAW), bulk affects Personal Fatigue, so this is
onby default. If this is on, Personal Fatigue is based on ENC + BULK + 5, if this is off PF = ENC + 5. -
Extended Skill Info in Save as Text: When saving a character in a text, with this setting 'on' the skills will include attributes used in the SB, development points, and SDR. See Save as Text documentation.
Resetting FLags

These settings are used to reset the affected data. To reset the data, turn on one of those settings, quit the application and relaunch. On the relaunch the affected data will be reset and this setting will be automatically turned off.
There are two options:
- reset the equipment list: this affects the items in the Edit Equipment tool. These include any items that you created with this tool. These will not be available in that tool after the reset, but items already equipped on characters will not be affected.
- reset to the default characters: this will erase all characters and reload the default characters (the On the Silver Way pre-generated characers).
Adventure Modes

At the moment there is only one adventure mode, but I may add more eventually. These are quick presets for running an adventure.
On the Silver Way
On the Silver Way is a quickstart adventure that is very well written and is made to help both GMs and players get started with HârnMaster Kèthîra. It is available for free on the Kelestia Productions website. The three pre-generated characters from that adventure are automatically added to HMK Toolkit. If you deleted them and you want to add them back to run OtSW, see Pregenerated Characters.
When you set this mode 'on', HMK Toolkit will adjust various parameters to match the adventure.
- the date is set to the 23rd of Nuzyael;
- the time is set at 19:00;
- the Extended Twilight (see above) is set to true;
- the weather is modified so that it matches the weather in the adventure module.
- the weather modifier is set to Mountainous.
Remember to return the weather modifier to Lowlands around noon on the third day of the adventure, as the character come down from the mountain (this will set the correct temperature for that part of the adventure). When the adventure is over just uncheck this setting. The next time you run the adventure, just check it on again!
Importing a character
You can import a character that was previously exported (using the 'Export Character' button on the character sheet). Press this button, locate the file for the character and open it. At the moment there are no warning if this fails but it's on the list of things to implement.
This might be used, for example, by a player sending their character to the GM (assuming that they are both using HMK Toolkit), or for restoring a backup, see Exporting Characters.
